  • Looks like a Columbus MAX fork to me; nice!

  • Noice! Thanks for the reply. Might look a bit phat on the frame it's going to go on but ah well ;-)

Is it quite a particular shape to MAX or could it also be Air or something not as good?

  • Inclined to say Max too based on the crown and the taper on the fork legs

  • I need some help identifying these chainrings.
I acquired this crankset about 2 years ago and have remained at page 1 in the search to figure these rings out. The finish quality is impeccable and doesn't look to be the work of a 'home mechanic'. The only markings are 54J and 45J on the rings and from the sellers memory they have been attached to these undated Campagnolo record cranks since he bought them used in the 70s. Any insight would be appreciated!

  • On the back of the cranks will be a number in a circle or a diamond: what's there?

54/45 are time trial sizes and "drillium" was widely exercised in garages and sheds across the country.

  • I am mainly interested in info on the chainrings as the cranks are Pre-date code Campagnolo Record Cranks.

  • It's a Max fork with an internal fork crown. Bianchi for example had it on some top line frame sets. You don't see them that often. Well worth the respray IMO

  • Anyone know anything about old Bianchis? I can't find a frame number but it looks a lot like a Sprint or 60s Sebino to me. Has an Italian threaded BB and distinctive lugs and seat stays.

  • Did Chas Roberts ever build track frames in 531 plain gauge back in the mid to late 1970s [1976 to 1979/1980] or only 531 double butted or better?

  • Does anyone know anything about Vampire bikes? I'm sure is pretty unspectacular but just wondered as I'm giving it to a friend...

  • with the top-tube and down-tube stiffeners, plus rectangular section rear triangle, I think it's an Orange of some type, or it could be a voodoo

  • Someone said it may be a dawes !

  • I don't think it'd be a dawes, single speed horizontal dropouts wouldn't appeal to their mass market leisure sector

its simplicity puts me in mind of planet-x or ragley, but i cannot recall them doing box section rear ends. other contenders may be nikolai, or commencal

  • It a nice frame
    it served me well
but ain't a clue what is it no markings stamps or anything to suggest a manufacturer

  • What saddle is this?

  • Yup! @Scilly.Suffolk thanks man

  • Well it's French, so Stronglight or Specialities TA is where the smart money would be.

  • If you wanted to hedge your bets you could also consider Nervar to be an option, although I don't know if they made them with that bolt pattern...

  • Been suggested that I post on this forum to see if you can help identiy a frame for me. Advertised as Reynolds 753 and built by Tom Board in the mid 90's. Frame number 0118.

So far it looks like a Columbus frame due to ribbing in forks the weight would suggest KL as the seat tube at the open end is 0.7mm. I also suspect this is late 80's due to the 130mm rear drop out spacing.

The seat stays are a bit odd, they are not round, but triangular in section. While looking on line found an old add of a Bill Nickson frame that looked remarkably similar.

Not all hanging together completely, but based on what Andy Palmer told me I am thinking KL built by Tom Board. Any thoughts?

  • Hi guys

Need some help identifying tubing on an 80's Scapin I recently acquired to restore.

Ill attach some pics but it measures to take a 26.2 seatpost with digital callipers.

I think it's probably Columbus zeta or aelle but thought they were both 26.8 posts?

Also need somewhere that does cold setting and repaint the frame too if you have any recommendations pls?

    Thanks in advance.
