My front mech isn't shifting. Campagnolo 10-speed. You click, click, click and there's no noticeable movement in the cable at all. But there is a normal amount of tension, so the cable shouldn't be the issue. Have my shifters died?

Very very likely so, if you try and look underneath where the ratchet is engaging or not, like this (ignore the tool);
If it appear not to be moving while you're shifting, then it need repairing (or replacing).

I've just checked and I've misrepresented that. Move the finger lever and it clicks once and won't click again. Click the thumb release and it clicks once, and won't click again. The ratchet seems to move (the cog/toothed wheel), but only the once. Still dead?

If the lever end of the cable is moving but the dérailleur end isn't, you probably just need to replace the cable, it's probably frayed somewhere inside the outer and jammed.

As tester said, it's possible that a frayed cable causing it to not shift properly, very easy to remedy.
Just try and take it out completely, and shift again to see if it can go up to 10/11 without the cable.

I like that. Thanks

Are replacement screens for garmin edge 1000 available? Or, idea of cost to be repaired?

I'd like to see a front mech which goes up to 11 :-)

@edscoble @mdcc_tester Cheers guys. I whipped the cable out (which I'm loathe to do because I have a very, very tricky internal cable routing) and it was really corroded. Not sure what brand they were but it was rubbish. Cue an hour or so of pushing grime out with a new length of cable, some oil, some swearing, and I'm shifting again. Love this forum...

I know pipe cutters are commonly used to cut aluminium bars, do we think they'll work on stainless steel bars with 1-1.5mm wall thickness? All the ebay listings for pipe cuters mention copper and brass but I know these are a fair bit softer than stainless.
NM, the Bahco ones say they'll do steel and there's not enough orange in my tool box yet.

Fitting Oury rubber grips on aluminium bars, I used warm soapy water to get them on because since my baby left me, I ain't go no hair sp-ray and now they're quite slippy.
Didn't use much, will they become stuck when it dries?
How long do you think I have to decide which way round I want the logos while while its still slippy
If it doesn't stick, I've got some grip glue from a motorcycle throttle, will that completely fuck up the bars and the grip?
why does the text keep disappearing then reappearing as I type, it very
?
By the way, Oury grips are on sale at PX/OO for a fiver, not the 12 bloody quid I paid on ebay

Grip glue should be safe, but I like Copydex for fitting grips, it's super slippery when wet, safe on pretty much anything and easy to clean up both the excess at fitting time and the residue when you eventually take them off.

What's the best way of getting something really fragile delivered somewhere without it getting smashed to shit? I'm getting something made of glass for my Mum's birthday.
