  • Very very likely so, if you try and look underneath where the ratchet is engaging or not, like this (ignore the tool);

    If it appear not to be moving while you're shifting, then it need repairing (or replacing).

  • I've just checked and I've misrepresented that. Move the finger lever and it clicks once and won't click again. Click the thumb release and it clicks once, and won't click again. The ratchet seems to move (the cog/toothed wheel), but only the once. Still dead?

  • If the lever end of the cable is moving but the dérailleur end isn't, you probably just need to replace the cable, it's probably frayed somewhere inside the outer and jammed.

  • As tester said, it's possible that a frayed cable causing it to not shift properly, very easy to remedy.

    Just try and take it out completely, and shift again to see if it can go up to 10/11 without the cable.
