• Help appreciated, please. Which manufacturers make aerobars that clamp to a standard oversized stem and are adjustable for stack with risers? Zipp Vuka Aluminas, 3T Auras… Is there anything else I've overlooked? I'm a set of aerobars short of a bike, it's mid-March and panic is setting in.

    Tale of woe:

I bought a set of HongFu TT bars in January, partly because of their apparent adjustability, but also because I had a good experience with their carbon rims last year. The bars aren't working out nearly as well.

They cracked while I was tightening (with a torque wrench!) the long bolts that pass through the risers. They cracked a bit more when I was setting up my position on the turbo. HongFu replaced them under warranty without any hassle or cost (other than the 17 days the new bars spent in Customs.)

The replacements went on the bike last night and I took it out for a spin round the block this afternoon. Tonight I noticed very fine cracks on the base bar, around the edge of the footing for the risers. They could well be cracks in the paint, but don't think I want to ride them again to find out.

Profile Aeria range if you're after a system of base+extensions, Profile T-series or 3T Clip On Kit if you want a clip-on to fit any 31.8mm base bar
