Took a couple of weeks to arrive.

I may be being dumb but I can't recognise which bit of which junction that photo shows?

An RAV4 doesn't have a 'blind spot'. Like most cars it has small areas behind the pillars behind which a human next to the car can't hide, but no 'blind spot'.

My response to that was to point out that I'm 6'2" and 100 kilos, it would have to be big fuck off blind spot.

While, as I said above, I think it's a 'design' that's beyond awful, as a reaction to these two deaths all this is really a little premature. There's no real evidence as yet about how the junction(s) will perform over the longer term. I wish we didn't have to try it this way, of course.

This location is so high-pressure that there's even a group that wants pedestrian underpasses back.

The RAV4 driver is talking nonsense, if you're doing the same speed as a car in a motorbike, under a certain angle you are completely hidden from the mirror views.

no cycling for me for a while: on Wednesday morning, the car in front of me had to emergency stop at a junction due to a police escort, and my fingers were crushed between the brake lever and the car! Was lucky no damage to the car and that nothing is broken, just crushed tendons etc.

Managed a track stand after 5 pints last night. Epic Win!

That's not track standing, it's falling over in both directions at once.

Was overtaking some cyclists this morning when one swerved out without looking. I managed to miss her but she shouted at me that it should have been obvious to me that she was about to do so. I said it wasn't, and asked 'what if I'd been a lorry?' She said she'd have heard a lorry. Very angry young lady. Turned off and stopped at Camberwell College of Arts. Was riding a dirt jump bike with one brake. Very odd.

To be fair I expect as much room to be taken whether its a car or a bike doing the overtaking... Quite how far had she has swung out?

She swerved far enough to make me swerve, and I was giving her enough room.

I don't doubt it, I was just making the, perhaps unnecessary, point that its the responsibility of the overtaker to avoid a collision, mostly.

Actually not at all bad. Kept full gloves on because want hands to work.

What was bad was the numerous muppets who don't look, don't indicate, etc.

Well she can bring that point of law up with a lorry driver should she ever end up being run over by one having pulled out without looking.

After a little absence I have my favorite commute back again. Its so easily extendable, and because I know the roads around there pretty well- easy to shift between sections for variation.
Looking forward to building the miles post work (and maybe pre as summer beckons), but I've got to make the most of it- come May 1st I say goodbye to Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, and hello to somewhere in Essex.

Srs though. You should all move to Nottingham. Its fucking great.
