PS Can't wait to get my free Tym's Boost pedal, the design I did is gonna be rolled out every now and then as a charity pedal... He does that, makes pedals then gives all the cash away... Such a good lad, don't know how he manages to run a business like that... I applaud him all the way...

That's so cool. Do they ship or can you bring us one back?
-
• #3931
They do ship but the online stuff flies out in seconds... Tim keeps a few of each pedal back for the shop, happy to take orders and bring them over for peeps...
His homegrown pedal cabinet is huge and very impressive, if you visit the shop you're guaranteed to come away with something you want...

PS You may not even like it!?!
You will tho', he knows his shit... He's just done a Norman Blake signature Boost as well...

Can do, no problemo... Just say the word...

Sadly I have sworn to MXR-size pedals because I am an idiot.
-
• #3936
They're not that much bigger, srsly...
PS Why would you do that? Apart from gig bag pocket portability, obvs...

Mostly that. Made a homemade board to fit in a messenger bag and I need to cram a fuzz, boost, trem, delay, verb and a tuner on it...

Nice, digging those patch leads too... What are they?

Lava ELC... they're a pain. The "pray the tiny needle stabs the weeny core strand" concept is rubbish. IMO if it must be solderless, screw connection to a solid core is the way to go. Lava Tightrope, Evidence SISβ¦

Anyone know what the little cable going from a 1/4 jack to spades for the speakers in a combo are called?
-
• #3942
Mmm, pretty much just called that, I think... spade lug is the usual term.

Well that was fun. Fitted up the board with new patch leads so no moar crackles. Fuzz Factory is rad. Played for three hours straights. Whoda thunk you could get so many weird sounds out of one pedal? Spitty velcro lo-filth, full on face ripping fizz and weird feedback oscillations. It's pretty mental.
A few reviews claim that it's totally unusable live but the gate, compression and stability knobs can all be juggled to to create a total noise suppression thing that means you can cut off all extraneous skonk. If you crank all three, hardly any signal squeaks through the gate and you end up with an odd synthy 8 bit sounding thing.
One thing I do wish I had though was a switch that recreated the guitar tone being rolled all the way off. I play a tele and I like quite a bit of high end in my clean and drive sounds, but when you fuzz the living shit out of it I always want to roll the tone right off to lose the fizz and get that honky nasal sustainy fuzz thing. Which is fine to do manually on the guitar but I always forget i've done it end up getting caught out when i click back to clean and find i'm all muffled and treble-less.
Is there a fuzz out there with a "tone off" switch which recreates the guitar tone roll-off. Or does anyone know of anyone in London who could shoehorn such a device into an existing pedal?
I'll take that one as well... ππ
