None of it was unbearable, the knee ditch wasn't great though.

I admit defeat... The 1st 2 hours out of 5 was fucking hell. Never go for a long session when you are stressed about anything in your life! But hey, the result is great. Patch (my cat), has not approved of this new cat (aka her) yet. By Lou Hopper

That's really good. I found the thigh quite easy, funny how placement feels different for people.

Thanks mates. Admittedly, I was quite tired and not feeling too great (stress etc), and I only had my clown done 2 weeks back on the same leg, so it was probably a conbination of shit. The balloon part was easier partly because it was the 2nd half, partly because my body had given up fighting the pain... I ended up dozing off...
I also found the noise from the tattoo gun makes everything worse, I tried covering my ears and everything was much easier... might go with some earplugs next time.

I might have to take back what I said about Dermalize being really good for tattoo healing... yes it did help a lot with my clown tattoo healing very fast and almost no scab. However, the amount of residue left on the skin is horrible. With my clown tattoo, I thought maybe I was in the shower for too long, water too hot, or whatever reason to have resulted in some residue on the skin when removing the film. However, this is now day 4 with my hotair balloon cat tattoo and also a touch up with my other one, I am really annoyed with the residue, it took me over an hour in and out of the shower trying to remove as much residue as possible last night and tonight. That is not to say it's not helping with the healing but the residue is a risk, and when I removed the film tonight, it also removed some of the colours, so I have yet to see if the colours that got pulled out were ready to go anyway or did it cause any damage to the tattoos.

Are people still doing Bepanthen on tattoos? My last one was a while ago and it's what I used then, my better half was the same but had one done on Sunday and was advised against Bepanthen as 'the formula has changed'.
She's using a sachet of Hustle Butter as provided by the artist but healing isn't going as well as when we used to use Bepanthen.

Since when? I've always sworn by Bepanthen. But then I also used Savlon once and it turned out fine.

All that red ink, do you not watch Twattoo Fixers?

What's wrong with red ink?
-
• #10771
From what I have been told, not from Tattoo Fixers obvs... is that red ink can be harder to settle on some skins, also some people can develop an allergy to red. I have bits of red on every tattoos I have, and the red on the one on my right leg has healed slightly funny, like that bit of the skin isn't entirely smooth anymore.

Isn't a lot of it leftover legend from when the only red ink you could get was poisonous?
-

I am not sure, when I had my touch up done on a tattoo of mine has a fair bit of red, just 2 weeks ago, we were looking at how nicely the red has settled and we were taking about how red can still be hard to settle on some people's skin.
Also yellow / gold colours can be difficult on certain people's skin too... so I was told...

there was a certain "SCARLET"red between ca. 2000 and 2003 which made huge problems, healed several times or was ejected by the body years later. the tattoo community refused to use that type of pigment brand. the company still suffers lot by that issue and is no more market leader, now just a small light.
there s a european tattoo pigment law and such pigment are banned.
after 18 years tattooing i do think that its not the pigment itself which is hard to settle into the skin, i do think that the mixture and/or medium/binder is the main issue.
pigment mixed with water worked for ages with no problem, since the industiry jumped on the tattoo colour band wagon, the chemistry came into the game.
Still red is the main pigment to cause reaktion due to the fact that reds can contain nickel.that red bit o red on your leg which healed slightly funny can also be caused by overworking the skin, so you might have developed a little bit of keloid tissue.
Looks great but also mad painful.
