  • Good point - no quick release on the callipers. If I remove the wheel I have to deflate the tyre.

  • You can get inline cable quick releases. They're generally pretty ugly though. Maybe an inline barrel you can rotate instead?

  • love this. that rear hub looks lice record ti tho

  • Ime most of the times you remove a wheel it's because you have a flat anyway.

  • Currently my favourite project.

  • You got wide rims and skinny tyres, I don't think it's that much of a problem unless you like your pads to be very close to the rims.

  • good shout, jagwire do some ok looking ones might be able to hide under the bar?..

  • Thanks @b&d

Not making any progress with finding the correct lockring... After trying 3 different sizes, most recently 26mm - they're all too wide. Bit confused because I thought 26mm was the smallest size!

  • This thing looks great!

Whats the biggest tyres you reckon would fit, 25s?

  • Thanks, just itching to find the correct lockring and get the bb shell cleaned up.

I think 28c would be the biggest, currently it's has 25c fitted fine. Interested in investigating 650b but a lack of chainstay bridge (to mount rear mudguard) has me wondering if it's possible.

  • BB and Chainset installed, just need a 26.0 freehub lockring now. Would of all been finished but went on holiday and SJS incorrectly sent the wrong size lockring which caused even more confusion.

  • Sent the wrong one? The fuckers!

  • slightly better photo

  • 5 lockrings later and Condor came up with the goods last night, I was relieved. Commuted to work today on the bike and thoroughly enjoyed it, hustling past road bikes I felt like the cat's pajamas knowing my sandwiches were safely stowed up front where I could keep an eye on them.

Really impressed with the bike and thinking I might even keep the 52T chainring which I previously thought might be too high. Still need to tweak the indexing but very content.

Awful photo after ride in this morning but I'll keep with the theme and get some decent photographs up soon. Thanks to all who contributed!

  • Hallelujah and praise be to Condor!

  • I know right, I do love that shop. You get yours back okay?

  • Congrats on the completion on the build jambon :-) It's a very tasteful looking porteur!

  • Good luck to you and well done on the build.

    It rocks!

  • Yes, thanks. Really pleased you found one.

  • Such a tasteful build, jambon - thanks for sharing, inspiration aplenty.

Dibs if you sell.....and it miraculously shrinks :-).

  • Looks great, glad you polished those levers. Just needs a kick stand for perfect porteur powers.

  • Superb!

  • Amazing, beautiful and original build! You've inspired me to do something very similar with my Trevor Jarvis frame!

  • Very nice. I guess it's early days but is the chain behaving on the front ring - i.e. not dropping off?
