I always thought they were technically separate brands. My do-it-all from the army surplus is a Wenger and it's one of the best things I've ever owned. Ever. Guy in the shop had some kind of story about which company is the army supplier which year and so on.
You may be right, though, they are probably both owned by the same heartless corporation.
Think you'll be out of luck if it's discontinued, but maybe have a search around cobbler's shops for older stock. I know at least one cobbler here in Swindon has a million different Victorinox, Inox, Wenger, Opinel, etc. I will have a look next time I'm passing if you like.

You're not happy to have it in classic red?
There's more swish options straight from Vict' on the Swiss site for the Pioneer Alox and so on.
You could always look at a Wenger.........
