I know how to take a compliment, I guess it's a translation mistake between french and english ;)

I agree, but the top tube is slightly too long for me!

• #106805
put the tubs on this for a more 'classic' look on the way to uni today
-
• #106806
Bet that the uni crowd didn't appreciate it ;)

• #106807
I appreciated it, that's what matters I guess. No one's very sociable at my uni...

As most current projects are finished I may start building an all-round steel disc commuter and future tourer.
Kaffenback with custom sikfadez paint comes to mind but would need carbon forks that can take wide enough tire, with racks and guard mounting ability.Belgium is not the best country for sikfadez so might need hive mind to source me someone willing to take delivery of frameset, take on the paintwork and send finished product.

Need a matching rear wheel to complete this 600/700 Air pursuit..
-
• #106814
Right front wheel there?
-
• #106815
Yes, clearance seems weird with 600 front wheel, but the previous owner told me It was used like that by the amateur french national track team. Frame is developed for 600 & 650 front wheel, both work.
And other D.Salmon 600/700 are build like that:

Here's my Dolan Pre Cursa.
Just after some advice:
Everything on the bike runs nice, ratio feels good for my commute and it handles well. , I'm aware this frame (60cm) is a little long and low, however, set-up as it is now is comfortable enough for longer rides.I would be fine with this, and attempt to reach bicycle nirvana, but non of it is really exciting me. messenger cranks, spd's, (new plain silver since this photo) mis-matched wheels...
so I guess my question is, bearing in mind I only ever want one bike, would you think upgrade the frame to something a little more exciting (and hopefully better fitting) or components first makes more sense?
will this frame always look a bit goofy because of the length being a bit much? -

I only ever want one bike
-

I know, I know. but really, the things you own, own you.
Since moving on nearly all of the 'might be useful one day' components, alternative forks, extra frames, different bars and associated brakes etc, myfirstsweetfixieh, road bike, (admittedly piece of shit) mountain bike etc, I have felt very much better.
The same with my extra musical equipment. It just feels good to have only what you need and get the absolute most you can from it.
Sure this will end on 'shit fixie sidders say' but the whole reason fixed gear ever appealed was largely to do with their minimalism, and it's been a great process getting back to that. now I just want to refine it! -

now I just want to refine it
If you want a refined fixed bike, get drop bars and two brakes.

For what it's worth, better wheels are really noticeable, that would be my start.
And a front brake/hoods can help. But if the frame is too long and you can't get comfy at all then maybe get another one first?
I had a too long/low frame and I'm a lot comfier on a fitting one.

Tried drops and hoods, love all the hand positions but my lower back couldn't take it over longer distances. 30+ miles in a day we are talking here.
Not a fan of the look of crostop levers on drops :/Any suggestions for tall/short frameset? 62/58 would be good, 60x60 is what I'm currently riding

30+ miles in a day? Yeezus...
-
• #106824
That wasn't meant to be a 'lot of miles' boast, I'm aware that's not a whole lot, rather I was trying to give a figure to what I meant by "longer distances" I can see why you took it like that though.
