• Been thinking about some 10speed disc brake wheels for touring and exploring. Saw these for £60 with discount code but will weigh a metric ton. They'll fit my preferred 28mm Marathons and Roadrat can accomodate 135mm OLD but are they just far too heavy? False economy? Worth saving up for some secondhand lighter, proper road wheels instead?

Given that the typical CTC off-road touring types like Rigida Sputniks on XT hubs, which will add up to about 2.4kg for a pair of wheels, I doubt that anybody is going to pick up your bike outside the cafe and do comedy weightlifter gurning.
