Luck, pretty much boiled down to this.
At one point in 2014 I got 3 punctures in 1 weeks (unrelated to each punctures), in 2015 zero punctures despite now working in Central London.
Plus 45psi is pretty high.
sorry, but I think you're wrong - the tyres have no protection and being wider there is a larger chance of riding over something. I tried less and it was awful, really squirmy and difficult to steer
The larger tyres have more contact point but less likely to get punctures due to the lower pressure.
Reckon its just bad luck.
