Rode the Dark Peak Grimpeur yesterday to use up the perm cards I've collected over the last couple of years (and get used to riding the bike up hills with a bit of stuff strapped to it...). Marple > Holme Moss was pretty straight forward, still snow on the tops and the early cloud made for a chilly descent into Holmfirth.
The next stage runs over to Edale, decided to stop half way for a late breakfast/early lunch. Called in at The Bank View Cafe in Langsett. Made it just in time it seems as two large club rides turned up just after ordering, finished my brew and beans on toast before their food even started to come out. Sun was out by this point so removed a few layers before climbing through Midhope and onto Mortimer Road. Most of this section has been recently resurfaced (although the unfinished gravel section part way down a 25% descent made me glad for disc brakes and fat tyres...), looking forward to riding it again when it's all done!
Stopped at the Penny Pot cafe in Edale for a stamp, topped up bottles and then it was just a case of climbing Mam Tor before a fast, sunny descent (mostly...) back to Marple.
