Theres some nasty at least for me 10%+ climbs that had me getting out of the saddle in 36-28 .. Strangely 34-26 or 34-24 is comfy on them and well 34-28 provides some relief on the longer ones but speed takes a nosedive.. Simply put never had a need for 52... Guess more training is in order

Thanks for the 105 offer but i have had 0 problems so far with bb30 or did you mean chainrings only ?

I reckon you can, especially for the money. I'm starting to go off TRP's offerings. Despite having awesome initial braking power, they don't maintain it over time. I've also found CX77's to be the easiest to set up to bite nearly as well with normal cables and very little pull.

I agree, the newer Shimano levers work a lots better with disc brakes nowadays due to the difference in cable pull (compared to the older 10 speed 105/Ultegra/etc.).

I've been building up quite a fair number of bicycles with various brakes recently, from BB7 to HY/RD, and so far, the CX77 is the easiest and simplest to set up, it already felt quite good with normal housing, even my Tektro Lyra* which was reportedly one of the worse road cable-pull brakes was great with 5800 levels (with normal housing).

Gonna put Yokozuna Reaction on the bike and see how much of a difference it'll make.

*as long you ditch the original wavy rotors.

After initially chastising the CX77, my opinions have changed massively 500k in on the bike.
I think i was expecting a better braking experience than DA9000 rim calipers which are/were my go to for road.
The experience i got/have isn't necessarily 'better' neither is it 'worse' its just different. Ive thrown the CAAD down some pretty heavy descents the last few weeks, and overcooked a corner yesterday at about 50kph, and now they're bedded in and tweaked, they're fucking excellent, and i think they could have possibly saved my face on that corner.
I had a play around on a friends hydro shimano yesterday, and found it miles more direct, but very harsh and abrupt, almost too much braking power for a road bike.
If set up correctly the simplicity of use, maintenance and general compatibility, not to mention cost effectiveness makes the CX77's an excellent choice.
I paid £45 for the pair of calipers, £20 for rotors, £10 for the P2P adapter for 160mm; thats £200+ less than the Hydro option, with little worry of issues other than pad and rotor wear.
Heard some pretty crazy stuff from long term tests of the hydro shimano stuff, like calipers popping on scary descents, without scaremongering, and without experience, i just feel a little more reassured knowing the simplicity of the fact that its theoretically just one mechanical action thats easy to fix.

@swedeee bit late to the party but cloth tape wrapped over thin fizik tape is exactly what I have on my road bike. Still nice and firm and even better grip, especially without gloves

I am testing positions on my caad10, the planet x stem and the d-a seatpost shouldn't stay.
I also unexpectedly got my hands on some cannondale holowgram for a mad 200€ so the next step is to find a bottom bracket.

Nah, it's actually a really subtle finish I reckon. I used Velox

plus it's only £2 a roll so if you don't like it it's not much loss
