  • I am curious as to why 3d printing of spec frames isn't happening? Even if 3D printing isn't cheap yet there should be room for some profits within the £100 - 300 price range that most half decent frames cost?

    I just paid that kind of money for a frame. Not because I can really afford it but because they were the only ones that remotely fitted me. And still, those were only OK, not a great fit. I reckon I could spend over £350 for a 3D printed pair that were modelled and optimised for my rugged good looks.

    Not sure if you'll read this two years on, but... it would cost significantly more than 300 quid to print a frame. Think more like 3000. And it won't be rideable. For the foreseeable future there are significantly cheaper ways of making a custom frame.

    Smaller parts have reasonable cost. Big stuff's seriously expensive.
