Why don't I run any more? After ruining my knee last year training for Paris I've just not been able to bring myself to get out there for more than 5k every few weeks or so. My knee is totally fixed so no excuse there.
I'm growing a bit of a belly and kinda bummed out about it.Someone inspire me! It's a lovely morning!!

I exist to serve.
Anyway, did The Swimmer event yesterday. It was meant to be a half marathon with swims in various ponds and lidos along the way, but a few of us ran off the front and got lost, making it 30km. Struggled a bit due to not eating properly, but ran pretty well. Instead of finishing in Brockwell, this one ended in the Olympic Diving Pool, with awesome Tom Daley impressions. So much fun.

Bath half done, 1hr 56 according to watch which I'm quite pleased with. Thought it was going to take me about 2 and a half hours but the course is nice and I was wearing a dinosaur costume and a top with my name on so lots of cheering helped.

10 mile walk, hip held up to it which is promising. Nice sunset colours over Rushup Edge. Was on headtorch last bit bog trotting right of true path (snow).

Got down to the South Downs yesterday for a three peaks training run. very misty so no views worth the name but fun nevertheless.
Then more running based fun today marshalling the sidcup10, capably organised by @PhilPub and a gentle 10 this evening trying to get some hills done in Greenwich Park.
Good running @kl and @tricitybendix

Well done! (and where did you get your dinosaur costume from?)

I did a half marathon today and managed to do almost exactly the same time as I did at the Cambridge Half the other week. Clearly I have one pace. However, today was super muddy and had hills, so I'm much happier, especially as I'm insanely cautious on mud. For some reason I thought it would be fine wearing my brand new trail shoes (8 quid from Decathlon!) and my feet hurt quite a lot now.
BTW I emailed the club I went to the other day and got a nice email back, so I'm pleased that's all resolved and stuff.

Thanks and well done on yours, love the medal. Dinosaur costume is possibly an exaggeration, it's more of a hood with sleeves - it was from Etsy though I'm totally failing to find the seller now. Somewhere American so I got stung by customs. Must try and find more uses for it to get my money's worth.

Nice racing everyone! A good weekend for it.
I've just done part two of the exercise-induced asthma study this morning, a similar before-and-after look at lung function, except the middle section this time was proper exercise. 4 mins warm-up on a Wattbike then 6 mins all-out effort (with a peg on the nose, breathing through a tube). Never done one of these before but managed 355W average for the six minutes, blimmin' hard work! More good news, confirming healthy lung function suggested by the last test. If anyone can get to Gillingham and wants their lungs looked at, they're still looking for participants.
That was a bit of a shock to the system on a Monday morning but I'll probably go for an easy run this evening.

Getting better, still some tightness in the left ankle but that's improving. Right foot still hurts when running but getting better slowly. Changing shoes to relieve pressure on the tendon made a difference.

10 miles on Saturday with my girlfriend who is training for Reading Half was a good LSD run for me. Training plan demanded 13 miles but I had a busy weekend and didn't really have time for more. I had wanted to run part of the Bath Half route seeing as we were in Bath and all, but that got vetoed "it's such a boring route". Fair point. So we ended up doing a few miles of up and down through fields that are literally on the in-law's doorstep and yet neither of us had been through before and then dropped onto the canal for the final 6 or so miles. Finished up back in town for pastries. Very pleasant!
The weather today is great so I ignored the training plan again (supposed to be cross training) and headed out into the sun. A steady 10k later and I'm back in the office (boo) but it was nice while it lasted :)

So, any Wimbledon Windmillers on here? Also, anyone going to do the Yatley 10k series over summer?
Me and @I_am_Hingis just ground out a cheeky half distance run this morning. The hills around his way are no joke.
First 13 miler of the year. Bit late considering london is in 6 weeks. I am so going to die...
