  • @swedeee for one
    @Dammit for the other

    £10er a piece?

  • It's always cheaper doing the formers.

  • @Dick - done

Ed - the only thing I'm likely to keep from the Ultegra is the crankset, and tbh I'd prefer to run the SiSl2 rather than the Si.

    Options are:

    1. Get the Ultegra C12, immediately sell bars, stem, wheels/tyres, saddle, seatpost, spider-rings. Purchase Rotundo bars, stem, P2M spider, inline post. Send frame to paint. Build it all up when it returns.

    2. Get the frame and fork, send straight to paint. Purchase everything bar the wheels (£$£$).

Option 1 means flogging lots of stuff and I have very little patience for that due to the following:

Me - item for sale, as-new condition, 1/3rd of new price, will not post
Every cunt in the world - will you take 1/8th of the new price, posted to wherever?

  • Dibs spidering!

  • What are they worth as a new take-off?

  • Here's a snapshot of today btw:

Me- Hi, I've ordered two CAAD12's, one 56 and one 58 for a test ride
Evans - you can only order one
Me - well, I ordered and paid for two, they're both in the workshop
Evans - but you're only allowed one
Me - are you saying I can only ride one?
Evans - I'm just saying it's against the rules, I guess you can ride them

    And then:
Me - I've bought these wheels to check that they fit in the frame with these tyres mounted
Evans - Sorry, can't allow you to do that, you'll have to buy the bike before you can check that the tyres fit, it's the rules
    Me - I'm sorry?
    Etc

  • I paid £100 for the one on my CAAD10disc - brand new.

  • While I'm cleaning up the Trek and giving it a service, threw the Cosmics on the CritRat.

God I'm excited by this thing

  • Don't think there's a rules in checking tyres clearance, if they're concern about it, they can simply ask their mechanic to check it for you while you observe.

  • Wow, if you went into a LBS they'd be overjoyed at the fact you bought TWO bikes from them, who are they to question your motives?! They also probably wouldn't give a shit if you whipped the wheels out and gave them a go in the frame, or even did it for you.
But, to be fair on the Evans guys, they have no autonomy over their jobs, they have rules, they have managers, it's a corporate system with so many levels nobody has the freedom to really use discretion and really help a customer.

  • To be fair we got there, it just seemed odd that there were so many obstructions put in the way.

  • Yeah, I've actually been hugely impressed with Evans down here, and now I don't have the option of getting my bits from the place I work, they're my go to store. They generally tend to make buying easy, particularly the option of delivery to stores, which are often easier to get to and have more amenable opening hours than post office depots! Their customer service team is also very well trained and hugely empathetic and helpful.

  • Evans - but you're only allowed one

    Verboten!

  • Had the disaster of all disasters: lost the rear cable inside the frame of my synapse when trying to replace it. Fed out a bit of a loop under the BB and it just kind of flicked and the end of the cable at the front end snapped into the frame.

Has anyone ever saved this scenario?

Where the cable feeds into the frame on the down tube looks impossible to feed as there's a kind of tunnel that goes into the centre of the tube, it's not just a hole in the frame.

I'm about 5 minutes away from shooting myself...

Ordered a Cervelo R2 and S2 to try from Lesiure Lakes (a smaller chain) with the intention of only buying one, shop more than happy to do that for me.

  • bloody Evans still have those CAAD10 discs in my size and I'm very tempted

  • It would have to replace the Supersix and I ain't got the money :(

  • Looks awesome!

Jealous yesterdays ride, the weather was amazing. Going stir crazy not being able to escape London. Ate too much cheese and wine instead.

  • You may need to take out the crankset to feed it through.

  • Solved it by realising that the whole plastic insert cable guide under the BB comes out with a bit of fiddling with a small flathead screwdriver. Didn't look like it should but it does appear to be removable. I'd still like to kick the faeces out of whoever designed it

  • i actually didnt feel under-braked at all yesterday, so I am going to hold off on more purchases for this bike right now. thanks though

  • Nee bother!

  • Are those Ultegra CX77?

I'm getting some for my new carbon road disc bikes (paired with 105 levers), I reckon I can get it to bite as sharp as a dual pivot brakes.
