  • Saturday morning homework...
My daughter recently discovered a talent for painting thanks to the encouragement of an excellent teacher. Given the recent news reports of the number of women leaving teaching I was reminded of the importance of inspiring role models in schools

  • Unintentionally jumping on the market bandwagon...

    Slow Saturday
Man tending his stall from on top of it, Norwich Market. Not much going on here, I just loved his attitude. He finished serving a customer and I asked to take his picture as he carried on with a conversation with a man to my right.

  • Yeah, very nice!

  • Thanks both :) It was a rubbish, unproductive trip until I spotted him. It was the first time I've asked to take a portrait of a stranger too, so it marks a nice personal milestone.

  • Do they just turn up at a hunt and claim dogs that wonder off?

Pretty brave if so. It's pretty gross that fox hunting is still going on that way.

  • Do they just turn up at a hunt and claim dogs that wonder off?

no, half the pack legged it off after a Hare and was split up from the hunt, sabs gathered them together and kept them off the road until some members of the hunt (with the help of a Police van) came to collect them.

  • With a police van? I thought it was illegal to be on a hunt or do they just pretend to be out walking them or something?

  • It's only illegal to let the dogs kill the fox, you're allowed to chase it with a pack of hounds but have to shoot it. Humane right?

  • they're allowed to hunt followed a pre-laid scent trail, but most Hunts use the pretence of doing that to just continue hunting, the current law makes it difficult to prosecute them for it. Police were called today as the hunt were spotted consistently chasing Hares, and the hounds were running all over a road with no members of the hunt in sight.

Police were only interested in getting the hounds safely off the road and not at all interested in claims that they were hunting illegally.

  • Ffs. That's not much better than letting the dogs at it.

  • kinda, you're allowed to use two dogs to flush a fox out to be shot, as a form of pest control for land owners. You're not allowed to take a full pack of 20 odd hounds on a hunt for Foxes/Hares buuuut a lot of hunts will kill foxes and if caught just say that it was an accident and they couldnt call the hounds off in time.

  • Right, I get ya. The sabateur thing is really interesting.

  • Does this mean I can post photos of my beagle as my entry? Like the shot a lot @c0gsucker.

konica recorder, superia venus 800 (expired)
inverted with negfix8, many adjustments made in lightroom, in particular making the umbrella red not pink and bringing the guy's face out of the shadows (or attempting to anyway)
none of which helped much obviously; on reflection this was not the best time to experiment with expired high speed film in a half frame camera I'd never used before
