  • Summary of todays paris nice stage.

How do you forget to sign on as a pro? They have to do it every race, no?

  • Dat accent

  • Just seen tirreno. What was the tinkoff Bennati guys issue?
    Good win.
Carlton is a nob as normal, just spouting off shit.

  • Classy move by Stybar, his form is building nicely for Holy Week.

  • thanks! Would have been awful it that has gone uncorrected!

  • ^ ha! dunno about that, but sorry in case I came across as a nitpicker.

  • Srs question.

Why would one use Ventoux in the first half of a stage?

I guess it'll be interesting to see how much time gets put into the stragglers...

  • To accumulate the effects.

Raging tailwind at the start, so it'll be a fast start.

  • Will it have a big impact?

I guess that's the question that leads one to put it early in the stage...

  • PR, it gets attention, riders don't have to do the whole thing this early in the year, the Tour is going there so there may be a commercial element, a buy-one-get-one-free with the local government, or just a practice run.

  • Unlikely. They're only going as high as Chalet Reynard.

Theuns in the break nine minutes up the road though, so could get interesting.

  • Only.

The hardest part of the climb is the 10 km section to Chalet Reynard.

  • Ha, yes. I did think about putting the only in quotes. Through the forest, turn off to Sault. No biggie.

  • Commentary today is woeful.

  • Not interested in shaving?

  • Looking at the composition of the break, I imaging Rob Hatch is finding as many excuses as he can to say "Jesus Herrada Lopez" in slightly different, increasingly flamboyant ways.

  • Hardest section of any of the Ventoux climbs IMO.

  • How long do you need to spend in the wattage cottage for this, the hardest, climb of Ventoux?

  • Pfft, Ventoux. I rode up with a melon, a pack of fags, and a few beers in a pannier, and I'm hardly a specimen of physical endurance.

Although it took me a couple of hours, compared to the 45 minutes the pros did it in later in the day.

  • How's Gaviria not knackered from the world track champs?

  • Yeah, even I've made it up Ventoux, other than the heat after you leave the trees it's pretty doable.

  • Hood sprint!

^^Would have been like doing intervals for a week, lots of quality not alot of quantity; few days rest and you'd feel like a champ.

  • Any vaguely fit person can ride up Ventoux, it's doing it quickly which is the tricky part.

  • what a sprint in T-A, Gaviria seems to have digested the track worlds just fine

  • Poor effort, C-.
