  • No prob. Good news, glad you're not intentionally breaking yourself (and definitely a bit jealous!)

  • Haha, no, 6km. I didn't really want to go for a long run with people I didn't know and it was on the list of options of runs available, so I dunno...

  • @hats fair shout . I only did 8 k last night but I got out on a filthy night. Enough for me. If the location suits you go again.

  • Did she used to be a cyclist?

  • As a final crushing blow to my fragile little ego, my best friend just asked me "so, when's your fun run again?"

  • Went to a club session this evening - I was shown a map with four routes and asked which one I wanted to do, I said I'd do the shortest (was feeling a bit apprehensive) and someone was beckoned over to lead my little group of one. She said "oh for fuck's sake, this is my worst nightmare, urgh"
So that was a really nice welcome.
She did apologise to me at the end, but hmm.

    wtf?!

  • Ask her how her broken nose is.

  • She told me while we were running (most awkward run ever) that they have to take it in turns to take new people/beginners (it's on a rota) and that they all hate it and hope that there are no new people. WAY TO GO.

  • Sounds like a wonderful club. Welcoming and err'thing.

  • That's a poor, poor attitude from her. I'd try another club.

  • That's shithouse- which club? Someone fast should go along, opt for the 6km run then sub 16 min it

  • That's shithouse- which club? Someone fast should go along, opt for the 6km run then sub 16 min it

very well, if i have to...

  • So she's never been the new member? Ever? I would've tripped her up and nicked her Garmin.

  • I'd definitely email the club secretary about this. Not welcoming at all.

  • ^this - that's a fucking disgrace.

    Also, name the club.

  • I kind of wish I'd said something to someone when we came back to the clubhouse but instead I was all british and polite, which is very unlike me (I also apologised to the lady when she started saying about how crap it was that she would have to run with me!). Then I went home and ate chocolate on the sofa and berated myself about it.

Their website claims that they are a "very friendly running club". Lies, all lies.

  • @hats
Give GT a go next week, sounds like we're more friendly (albeit smaller numbers and probably not as quick) as Dulwich

  • Name them. shame them. disgraceful behaviour.

edited to add: If it is Dulwich then that surprises me. Maybe worth emailing their club secretary with an explanation of what happened.

  • Local rag reporter started their piece about the Wimborne 20 which Steve Way won with 1.53 with ' joggers started their Sunday with ....' hilarious. Non runners haven't got a clue

  • Ha, I don't know why the word jogger has such negative connotations, when I found myself getting wound up about being asked about my jogging by people at work I decided I was probably taking myself too seriously!

  • I feel a bit self important calling myself a runner. Runners are the 16 minute 5k folk, I jog quickly. Or I go for a run, but I'm not a runner. I dunno

  • If you wear a vest, you're a runner.
