You are right. There seems to be so many teams in it ever year I just assumed they handed out places to all the shit teams who finished from 5th to about 10th.
Will Chelsea qualify if they win the FA cup or get to the final and lose against Arsenal for example?
Liverpool for losing the Carling Cup should City qualify for CL?
The rules confuse me

Liverpool and Man U are hardly sure fire bets either.
I'd seriously doubt all 3 qualify.
