  • ^^ That. So badly that.

  • I'm doing the Basque coast trip, from what I have read I'm sure I will be back for the Pyrenees trip after that.

  • The old Dragon Downhill series had chainless seeding runs, and an unofficial prize for best chainless.
It depends a lot on your skill level. Many riders would be slower chainless but not as slow as you might think.
As in that video, the skilled riders can carry speed easier.
I was faster chained but not by much, but my skill level was low and i did loads of heavy braking then power power power to get the speed back.

Jason Carpenters idea was to show riders they could go faster if they put some work in and upped the skill levels. Certainly helped me.
Didn't do little Manon Carpenter any harm either :)

I knew i was doing allright when i could carry enough speed to get over the long road crossing near the top of Rheola :)

  • It's interesting riding chainless. I've just started doing chainless runs off the top of Kilvey Hill to work on my technique.
Sure is strange though, the sensation, with your feet on the pedals once there is no connection to drive.
Gonna have to ziptie the derailleur to the chainstay or something as it's really distracting with it flopping about. :-D

  • Just rip the mech off on a tree stump, that's what most racers do :)

  • Why not just stick it in lowest gear? You'll never be able to make any meaningful pedal input and it's no hass.

  • cheesy american voiceover aside - this video is incredible

  • Food there is amazing

Also try to get a table here https://www.martinberasategui.com/es/inicio

  • Will do!!

Gisburn yesterday was grim, slushy snow, ice puddles, loads of trees down and no flow.

Glentress today, after a scotish breakfast though which could be challenging.

  • Because being chainless is more than merely a state of mind. :-D

  • Amy thoughts on a good place to sell my cannondale trigger? Tried on here without a lot of interest....https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/282454/

  • Ebay will tell you how much it's worth

Bikeradar, singletrackworld are a bit less road focuses than here

Probably doesn't help that Pauls were selling those dead cheap for the last six months or so - anyone who wants one probably has one by now

  • Hi all,

With the egg chasing this weekend I was looking at make a trip to Surry Hills rather than my normal Swinley just wanted some info on how to get there via train - Gomshall is the closest station right? (obviously anyone is welcome to join) Just wanted to know how I get from the station to Pitch Hill or Holmbury (which ever is closest) is there a postcode reference I can use for the garmin?

    cheers!
    Joe.

  • Do u Garmin? I haz route

  • Yeh I do have a Garmin if you have a route that would be amazing. Are the trails easy to find im guessing nothing will be signposted?

Are the trails easy to find im guessing nothing will be signposted?

    No and correct :)

In fact some on my route might have been demolished :/

  • @Howard has given you the info you need to find Pitch and Holmbury. Once you're down there just ask riders you see how to find trails and tag along if you can on trails they go down. Just remember that the trail fairies like putting in gaps on any trail they find suitable and no gap is ever signposted.

What day are you going down on? I might be able to put you in touch with some people who ride there regularly.

  • Why no mention of new Fox' on the interwebz?? Tasty.

  • XC forks, no?

  • Yes looks like they are refreshing the XC ranges design.. Haven't seen anything on the larger travel side of the spectrum but who knows what they have done inside!

The 32s have some kind of indentation at the bottom which I can only presume saves weight over previous models. They appear to be approx. 200g lighter which is pretty huge when guys remove 3 of their disk bolts to save 3 grams!!

  • Nice - 1418g is great esp if it's with the maxle.

  • how does one remove a bolt through wheel from the forks ?

  • ahh got it
