That looks neat. I wonder whether it helps that you are more likely to be using the supernova after dark and mostly while on the move. I owned an E3 briefly and it kept itself cool enough in London. And the heat from my Cyo is barely perceptible - you can tell it is warmer than ambient when it has been running for a while in warm weather but I would be surprised if it affected a nearby Garmin at all.
