I don't think Maria Yuryevna has been thrown under the ЛиАЗ-5292, I was making a wider point about Russians in trouble from which she is probably an exception for several reasons. For a start, the tennis business probably needs her more than she needs them (I was slightly surprised to discover that she's even still playing, I thought she'd gone full-time celebrity model), which would explain why they are keen for her to get a story out there which will make it easy for them to give her a nice short suspension - drug prescribed by her doctor for a medical condition...recent changes to proscribed list...honest oversight...did I mention she's pretty and white and please can we have our poster girl back in the competition?

If Sharapova has been thrown under a bus, and I'm not saying either way, then it does seem to be a very small bus. More like having a large toy bus thrown at her head than being run over by the Number 10 as it trundles along Warwick Gardens.
