  • Fair do's. Looks like it's held up really well over the years.

  • Robbie has always been an inspiration to me.

    @edscoble of course I won't, this isn't a NAHBS wankery build.

  • I've crashed on it numerous times and a car reversed into it so hard that the forks were totally fucked so yes, I'd say it has. It's not entirely straight anymore though it must be said.

  • Wait, are you also getting that same fork painted?

  • Possible genesis confusion...

  • No no no, that was when the rack on on my track. I got Jake Rusby to build me a new for for it, which is still unpainted 2.5 years later. Though this may change as some point as after all this work on the Genesis I have a feeling I won't want to lock it up as often as I do now. So I might spend some cash on my track bike making it dingle speed so I can use normal pedals and then have a bike I can ride without any special shoes etc.

  • Not really, mine is becoming less and less of a Genesis. When I first got it the original owner had already put down tube bosses on for friction shifters and then had it ED coated and custom painted. Then I ditched the original forks in favour of these Thorn ones, with this round of modification I probably won't even bother putting decals on it.

  • I have a feeling I won't want to lock it up as often as I do now.

Maybe go for a pastel powdercoat?

  • It'll get filthy

  • Now you're sounding like a NAHBS Wanker.

  • Well it'll get filthy anyway, but I just don't want it to show up the dirt. Nice dark colour, then I dint have to clean it.

  • dont paint the racks

    its not cool

ps i had the same reversing car experience. bashed the forks back though. <3 steel

  • Much interesting. Your Soma or the Pelago one? You can slap panniers on yours when needs must right?

  • Soma, pelago didn't exist back then. I can indeed, I've done a fair bit of touring like that

  • You forget, I'm not cool.

  • Then go ahead! Matchy matchy!

  • My Croix after full rebuild and a few choice upgrades :-) built to ride everywhere and have fun on. Excuse terrible backdrop

  • my cdf725. rim decals will be removed, nicer seatpost is already here, better pictures afterwards.

  • Shiny things have arrived. Hopefully the frame will be finished by the weekend and then off its off to paint.

  • Is this now "The Official Genesis Croix de Fer Thread"?

  • people seem to think so, Im pretty sure thers an owners club thread though?

  • That sofa looks like it's been ridden everywhere and had fun on....

  • Tempted to spam mine as well but will resist.

Is that soma one that mounts to lowrider mounts?

Is it much lighter than the Porteur? No pannier mounts though?!

    I'm guessing excessive $$$?

  • mounts to the mid blade, so i can use lowrides in fture. no idea on the weight as yet. And I think they're pretty reasonably priced as RRP but I got this on trade as a bday pressey.

    EDIT: £119 RRP

  • Pump was too long to fit on the NDS chainstay, and the stud was only 35p so it's not big deal. It's not worth buying a whole new pump so I'll live without it.

Now I need to get to bloody armoutex before they shut one day this week, I wish they opened on Saturday still.
