Excellent, well done. Nice picture too.
'Barking Riverside' is set for massive development. River Road is a funny place but there's some quite interesting architecture and things to nose at. There's planning permission already granted for over 10,o00 homes (although only 1200 can be built until public transport is improved) and David Cameron announced plans to build 13,000 new houses there in January. There's another consultation on extending the Overground to a new station at Barking Riverside and after funding finally arrived in the 2014 budget it seems like construction will start next year:
https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/rail/barking-riverside-extension?cid=barking-riverside-consultThere's a good article here on what it's like to live in the new houses they've built there already:
http://www.theguardian.com/cities/2015/aug/17/no-cafe-pub-doctor-londons-most-isolated-suburb-barking-riversideFor the moment most of it feels like old-style industrial East London and it's well worth a nose before it all changes. If you can be bothered to ride the epic 10.5 miles from Charing Cross that is...

Definitely some interesting buildings down there, and that steam engine.
The A13 wasn't much fun in the spray today. -
• #17636
You actually rode on the A13? Eek.
I went on the bike path along the south side - joined it from Beckton by the Alp after taking the Greenway.

The trick is to take the honking as cheerful encouragement.

Barking Riverside is just about the worst that development can ever be--it's been given no chance to develop as a proper centre and will be that isolated and non-diverse dormitory for the foreseeable future.
Even though the same mistake has been made thousands of times before, and not too far away, e.g. in Thamesmead, they keep making it over and over again. Unbelievable. When will we ever learn, etc.

Someone should make a map so we can avoid this sort of thing in the future.

Both you and user61862 (who should get him-/herself a username under 'Edit Profile') can still post another new tag.

Down with this sort of thing.
I did search the forum for Caledonian but only stabbings came up.
roding, surely?
unless 'rodding' is a slang I've just not come across (I understand its use in drainage etc)
