The only cassette that will go on an XD driver is a 10-42, so this is all a little academic for now, I am going to go for 1x11 on this, the only decision is front chainring size.
46/42 give you a tidy 28GI with 25mm tyres, nearly identical to 34/32, and 46/10 is the nearly the same as 50/11 (a gnat higher on the 46t).
Obviously the bigger the tyres, the higher the GI get.
