  • Got up early and almost made it home before the fog rolled in. Toes are still numb, but the frozen condensation in my cap has thawed. Ultimate AL is still a great allroad bike.

  • Slapped aerobars and an outrageous stem on the winter workhorse to take it out to Lincoln for a century - I'd forgotten how beautiful the cathedral is.

  • Solid first hour no slower than 20mph, then the others started flagging. Much slower second half.

  • cold & windy pre-Omloop ride on Flemish concrete roads, loved it

  • Lovely, if somewhat slow, ride out to Knatts Valley (up) then back through Shoreham (love the drag up out of Shoreham) . Such a lovely corner of Kent.

  • First ever ride through the Chilterns today, 35m loop starting and finishing at Amersham. Lovely but highlighted my need for more hill training. Also, saw a badger which was nice.

Also saw a dead deer that had been hit by a car then nibbled on. Not so nice.

  • Isn't it supposed to be badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, mushroom, not badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, dead deer?

  • Snake! Snake!

  • Prefer venison to mushrooms.

  • Had a lovely ride down to Brighton today, longest ride I've done to date. Did it single speed 41 x 17, way less problematic than I expected it to be. had to walk up most of the Beacon though.. I set a goal of reaching Brighton before 4pm so I would catch the end of Vegfest. Was there just after 3, what a perfect way to end the ride with all vegan pizza, ice crean, sushi, satay, fried "duck", brownies and of course a pint.

  • .

  • Second ride since moving to Bcn, climbed some amazing hills, popped a spoke through the rim on the wheelset I've done under 400 miles on. Raging.

That Planet X is making me think I should sell and buy another track bike. Looks amazing.

  • Went from London to Oxford today using the second half of the Steam Ride map. Need more hill trainining, that's for sure, and got a nice sampling of British weather: strong headwind, cold temperatures, snow, hail, rain, and even some some sunny spots here and there. Chilterns are lovely, I'll be going back there.

(yes, taking bike #1 was very optimistic of me)

  • Wouldn't get too close to that cooling tower if I were you...

  • Well as a matter of fact the bike path goes literally around the power station (that's in Didcot). I didn't die but I wouldn't say that was the nicest part of the ride :)

  • Just got sent this from Emma who is on her way out to Shoreham via Star Lane.

  • Unbelievable.

  • Nice afternoon loop round Hever Castle and back. Going up Toys Hill never gets any easier. Got really cold by the time I got home. Fitness is getting a little better now and I'm not avoiding my favourite rides with hills anymore. Bring on the hills!

  • 38.5 miles over 2hr20. 2,073ft of climbing, and a nice section at 30-35mph.

Last section home was super slow going through the town, pulled my average speed down to 16.5mph.

That, and having to keep an eye on the chain after a link was hanging by a thread. Narrow aversion of disaster, chain nearly snapped -noticed on snack break after one of the hills.

  • Thought I'd try the Thames path. Definitely didn't need google when I went past the sewage treatment plant.

About 30 miles in total which longest ride since pre-Christmas, quick pint in Cycle PS on the way back
