  • What happened to project 84?

  • Projects all proceed at their own pace. The Cannondale has been brought forward due to cycle-to-work anniversary hoving into view.

  • Which does mean that I need to look at the most cost effective use of funds for this.

Frame for £699 or Ultegra for £1,999?

  • I have some ideas to update this

    Moar gold?

  • Not sure whether this should be 1x11 or 2x11. The latter would involve gold, but the wheels have an XD driver in place.

  • Despite being a 1 x believer where mtb gearing is concerned, I have my doubts about it on a road bike.

Fine for a Winter/training bike, I reckon, but not so much for this*

*unless this IS your Winter/training bike?

  • A quick rummage in the parts bin nets the following:

  • Small chainring will look weird, especially on a big bike.

  • Would look even weirder with the 10-42 cassette. Good for "WTF is that?!" moments, in the Saeco colours.

This bike would be for (this year) Zoncolan and the Rockies.

  • Ultegra because you can always sell the parts.

  • Frame for £699 or Ultegra for £1,999?

What are the wheels that come with the complete bike? Might be interested.

  • I could swap the shifters onto the cross bike, also.

  • ^^Aksium disc WTS with Mavic Yksion Elite Guard tyres, folding, WTS, 700x25c, it says on the Cannondale site.

  • Exactly, hell a lots of those part can be moved to the Time Machine once they wear out.

  • XD driver in place

    I did wonder

Just give them to me pls

  • I could swap the driver, quite like the idea of 46 or 48 front and 10-42 rear though.

Where can I get the best deal on a 10-42

  • A nice 30GI for the climb with the 46t chinring.

Gotta says it won't look like a modern classic race bike with those cassette tho, 52\36 is the best looker with a reasonable range with 11-32.

  • I suspect the wheel choice rules out looking like a modern classic race bike, also.

However, a 110bcd spider preserves options.

  • Paging @TRA .. Tumblr at the ready

  • What are you going to use it for? I've done 1500+ miles on a 1x set up on dedicated winter/commuter bike and its perfect for that. One less thing to worry about.

I have 42t with 11-36 at the back while the upper end of the cassette hardly gets used I do use 36x42 on York's, Fox lane, Sundridge, Hosey common, Toys (south) etc. Generally faster than double set up roadies too. 36t is a lovely eject button over 32t. I have Sram 1170 which is I think 450g cassette and 42t Wolftooth 4 bolt with 6800 cranks.

  • I have 38 * 11- 28.
    It works.

  • What are you going to use it for?

    The Zoncolan is a monster.

  • Then double; hate when double set up people sprint past on downhill and I am spun out.

  • Then stop riding on the brakes.
