"Thanks for your email.
We don't have rear hubs on order at the moment I'm afraid, as yet there are no plans to restock them as a separate item.
Kind regards"
I reckon I'll get a BDW then: thanks all!

I have a set of unused 36h novatec hubs going spare if you want
-
• #229
I'm only after a rear, but thanks all the same.
And the BDW will save me from doing the Allen screw conversion.
Although I did buy two rims, on the basis that eventually I will build a Winter beik with a front disc.

I've got a BDW 28H rear hub shell and axle you can have for a tenner + postage if it's any use to you, it needs some bearings and bolts though.

@Borek Thread hijack - dibs if @Scilly.Suffolk doesn't take them.

Fucksocks.
I ground down the tabs for the inner ring, but now the chainring bolts and the chainring are touching the stay.
@coldharbour: tap, smack or thwack?

Space the BB out a mil or two?
-
• #235
Possible, but not much room on the other side.
If I spaced the driveside, would I have to counter-steer to avoid going around in circles?
Genuine question.

Genuine question.
lol. I doubt whether your pelvis is symmetrical, so 1mm difference in Q from left to right is unlikely to do much harm.
-
• #237
Yeah I'm alright with that, but won't moving the BB out mean the bike will want to turn right?
Genuine question.

Genuine question
Genuine answer: If that much asymmetry made the bike hard to ride, we'd all be struggling thanks to the asymmetry of our bodies.

Vice and a carefully shaped chunk of crank arm. If you have vice I can send you the aluminium "shaper 5000".

I'd nearly given up on you!
In spite of the tofu-knitters and whale-huggers, my chainline says that spacing the BB can GTFO: both hub and cranks are 45mm, so it's the stay that has to go >>>
Ideally, do I want to put something curved around the inside (wheelside) of the stay?
Thanks for the offer, but a) I'm only certified in the use of the Shaper 4000 and b) first outing is on Saturday...

My notifications are sporadic on new forum, wasn't ignoring you I promise.
Yeah I have a lovely bit of hard wood to go on the other side of the stay.
You're not London based are you?
-
• #243
That was only in jest: quite sure you have more pressing demands on your time.
I get the drift(wood) now!
No, Gippeswyk :(

Ok, well if you want to send it I can do it foc, just let me know.

Most kind of you, but in the end I used the big hammer.
I normally have access to a workshop, but they're off skiing.
Took a few attempts, fitting and removing the cranks, but I got there in the end with no creases or ripples.

In other news, I've just bagged some Ventus!
@mdcc_tester what's the craic with the spacer stack? If memory serves you have a custom offering (and bridge)...
-
• #247
My BDW hub has arrived but it's occurred to me that I need to respace it as I have a 45mm chainline.
But I can't see how they come apart: the axle is only internally threaded and there are no flats on the spacer.
Presumably they do come apart, in order to change the bearings: any ideas?
-
• #248
Grub screw on the spacer?
Ventus or Ventus II?
-
• #249
No screw, but having another fiddle it seems the spacer is independent of the axle: perhaps they're just a push-fit?
Ventus II, BNIB: I am right in thinking they don't come with spacers?
-
• #250
Yes: the spacers just pull off.
Hopefully the axle is plain and doesn't have "stops" inside of where the bearings sit.
I have a set of these on my Zeus, measured the chainline to 42mm with a Zeus sprocket.
