  • The level of professionalism at Villa is truly exemplary. Today's press briefing:

  • below the line comment from a spurs fan, on the loss to West Ham...

We're 2/3 of the way through the season and playing at least 2 games a week against very good sides. Spurs haven't got a squad full of experienced world class players. Its a young team with players who have over-achieved thanks to hard work. but all those games take their toll as does the rotation. This is not Liverpool 2013/2014. If we could field our best 11 once a week then we'd be okay. But we cant so occasionally we'll have to field a side containing guys Chadli, Trippier, Carroll, Mason against full strength and fully rested opposition. Its a grind and it would be totally unrealistic to expect the squad to maintain the high standards they've set in every single game.

It doesn't get easier from here on in. In the space of 6 days we'll have Arsenal, Dortmund and Bournemouth. That will be followed by tough fixtures against Liverpool and United. But whatever happens fans need to put things into context. None of us expected to be this high up at the beginning of the season. A team with no back up striker, the youngest average age in the premiership and relying on what looked like a makeshift midfield of Dier and Dembele at the beginning of the season, asked to juggle domestic and European football and doing rather well at it.

  • So basically, Spurs fans have taken on the mantle of 'next year is our year'.

  • No just putting the realistic expectations that most Spurs fans have to the current title challenge and the bubble bursting (no pun intended) fallout from the West Ham defeat.

We're ahead of expectations this year, everything above playing for fifth and a cup run is a bonus...

  • so you keep saying corndog but tell me you are not daring to dream?

  • especially for you!

  • Let's hope Arsenal remember to turn up. After the last week it's unlikely.

  • In person Jonny, in person. But all this you've got to win it now or your team will be strip mined and you'll never see another opportunity pressure from others is just so much envious trolling..
Anyway I've got a derby to be daring to dream about...

  • That's one for @Chalfie to get his teeth into... Lots of numbers and analysis but not much opinion....

  • The players should be able to lift themselves for this game, there are enough in the club to know what this fixture means, but with the 3 defeats in quick succession the their confidence will be brittle. I have a bad feeling about this one.

  • All stats and no clue. What the fuck is "expected goal difference"? Nothing wrong with a few stats but that article is taking the piss.

  • It's bollocks.
I'd like to see his simulator, I'm guessing it's a monte Carlo job. Only because that's the only one that springs to mind.

I'm not sure why he tries to compare gegenpressen vs coquelin.

I'm not sure about it all.

  • All I can hear is the sound of peepee seeping onto Corny's fitted sheet...

  • Keep it down, we're talking about big boys football here - you just concentrate on Watford and Everton.

  • We'll probably finish above you after you finally shit your pants in the coming weeks...

  • So spurs currently 11 goals better off than arseneal with over 2/3rds of season gone and that dumb article predicts it to swing back the other way in the final ten games.

Optimistic arsenal fan perhaps. I would sooner see spurs make a very late charge to pip Leicester in the final week than to get ahead to soon and then choke.

Also think it's optimistic to say spurs will get raided in the summer. Who would go exactly. Kane to utd is the one rumour but he is nothing like berbatov and if we are in cl next season and utd aren't why would be go. He's a fan.

Eriksen I suppose is the other star but has been content to grow with us for the last few years and its illogical to think he'd want to leave after achieving some success. The rest like lamela, chadli, dier were all labelled flops 2 years ago. Dembele struggled with his hip for over a year and i guess only liverpool would be dumb enough to pay £20m to sign someone like ryan mason. You want to sign dele then your looking at 50mil from levy I bet. If wba and Everton can hold on to their stars why can't spurs.

I love being a spurs fan right now with all this hate speech. Bring it on.

May the best team win today x

  • If your lot win today, you'll be heralding Martinez as a genius.

That tackle was so bad it should've been investigated by the law enforcement community for what was intent to cause injury.

  • Looking forward to the battle of the soggy sheets today...

  • I can't see Arsenal turning up today at the Lane. Not sure the players know how important Norf London Derby is. It's been a shocking couple of weeks, time to earn their celery.
