If he becomes the Republican nominee and there is any sort of shock to the US in the run up to elections I think he will be.
I can't be bothered to find it, but I read a stat the other day that showed that although he isn't that popular/widely disliked on a national level, when you poll Trump Vs Hilary there's only a 5% - 7% in it.
A terror attack, financial wobble, etc. would close that gap.
I don't think he is on par with Hitler, but I think that there are a lot of valid comparisons there - flip-flopping ideology, bad hair, popularist pandering, charismatic.
