You really shouldn't sell this.

but yeah the gear routing is great. and 6800 shifting feels lovely (final comment when everything works nicely together)

• #4054
Not at all, has improved my braking
-
• #4055
I'm really glad right now that my old caad10 has external cable routing, it took about half an hour to put back together after painting. ;-)

Nah i think im gonna hang on for a while.....
.....I'm really starting to like it.
A Lot.
I think i have to realise that its not the same kind of bike as the Trek. It's different.
Next Stop: 30mm Challenge Strada Bianca?

sorry i dont follow. compressionless housing is bad in this situation?
-
• #4058
They're loooovely tyres. Was playing around with them today on a couple of bikes. They came up a twitch larger than 30mm though. Maybe not bedded in enough.
-
• #4059
Yeah, dont rub it in! haha!
When i built mine up i had everything ready to go, then got to cabling.
I lost my temper very quickly, first time in about 3 years i haven't completely built a bike from the ground up myself. Props to @markskulls_sbc_cycles for sorting me out there, did a fucking excellent job.
@iamalex if you're looking for somewhere to take the CAAD i cant recommend SBC enough.

No, sorry, i replied after you replied.
I guess in this situation perhaps the Jagwire compressionless is a bad idea as is wont be as supple as normal cable.

• #4061
That looks ace! Really really want to give this caad10's a try. really close to buying a 52cm on evans... been checking that website for a week now hoping it runs out of stock
-
• #4062
Fitted any to a CAAD10 Disc?!
Im worried they may be a touch too big and rub under load, especially as i imagine the wheels I'm currently running are hardly stiff! may just stick with the GP4Seasons untill summer then go for my trusty Vittoria (Now with a fucking stupid name and an unattractively white sidewall....)
-
• #4063
yep that makes sense. how very very annoying
-
• #4064
Mate, I keep checking on your for sale thread hoping the SRAM and the Di2 has sold..... talk about temptation.
Maybe we can come to some arrangement, you can come over and touch my bike in exchange for Di2 / Sram Red.
Deal?
K Thanks Bye. xoxo

• #4065
Should have a caad10 in the back somewhere. Will see what the fit is like tomorrow.
-
• #4066
if you really want it, maybe we can sort something out :> always negotiable
-
• #4067
That'd be brilliant, thanks fella!
Where do you work?
-
• #4068
Caad disc definitely has more clearance than a caad10.
Or maybe it's an illusion caused by not having a brake caliper in the way?
-
• #4069
over the BB section might work? if not then I am taking admitting defeat and paying someone like dropouts to do it. if they cant do it the drill is coming out. this doesnt solve the angle of the rear disc barrel adjuster though... maybe it will have to be a spyre after all
-
• #4071
Could work, might make the brake feel spongy.
Alternative is fitting 160mm rotor to give more clearance.
-
• #4072
I was going to route that bit along the BB as currently the jagwire cable cant bend enough to sit neatly in the little channel.. And if it does bend the inner doesnt go through.
The chainstay -> disc brake transition is another problem. Unsure quite how I will resolve it. Maybe even buy a SPYRE as @dick seems to have no problem. Otherwise yes it will be back to the 160s or the flexy silver cable
-
• #4073
The good news is that you got the HY/RD on the front, Spyres on the rear work O.K. for me (felt a bit stiffer to pull compare to HY/RD.
Make sure it'll clear the spokes, as the Spyres is quite wide.
-
• #4074
Route the cabling and get it all set up and working THEN zip tie the housing inside the BB guide
-
• #4075
with the jagwire cable you cant pull it close enough down to clear the spindle with the inner inside, it just wont contort that way. I will try the bendy silver cable, surely that is the key.
agreed re brakes. 1 hy/rd on the front is better than nothing i guess. getting this built up before easter trip to mallorca is looking less and less likely ):
what fucking cabling are using? my jagwire cable is far too stiff for the rear brake cable to bend like that.. I thought I wanted compressionless housing??? CHRISTTTT
