Melt the ends with a bunsen burner

I considered fitting gas taps to my kitchen worksurface in order to allow the use of bunsen burners, ended up not having the room to run the supply pipes unfortunately.

great idea but used old cable to wear the hole in a bit more. then with some gentle twisting they went in. all cabling sorted, will fit bb etc in the coming days

Straight out of the box, yes. Stem has transitioned downwards since then. Reluctant to chop the steerer yet though. I'll have to post and updated picture - I'm not even sure how many Scoblebricks we're at now!

Whoop. Joined the owners club today. Good news, my new Synapse Carbon 105 (2015) arrived today. Bad news, it arrived about 30 minutes ago, so it's already too dark to take it out for an inaugral spin.
I'll now go back to lurking, and return in six months when I have enough money to ask what wheels I should be upgrading to.Considering I've only ever ridden aluminium or steel, I can't believe the difference carbon fibre makes. Everything was much smoother and felt 'faster' than my old Specialised Allez. Lovely fun.
One thing, the 105 levers have a big 'dead spot' before they change down compared to my old 9-speed Tiagra levers. Combined with how much quicker and quieter they are, it was alot harder to feel when I'd changed down.

No trouble with the gear cables yet but the rear brake cabling was a faff - There was a big dollop of aluminium blocking the cable entry to the chainstay. Not structural, just a splatter of alu. Had to drill it out... Need to get the fork disc mounts faced too as Cannondale couldn't be bothered to do it.

The shop should have done this AFAIK.

Agreed. However, Evans and the distributor have different opinions of who should have done what and a week of phone calls between them got very tedious. I'm going to call again today BUT I'd rather get it done elsewhere and move on.
Bargain unused secondhand DT Swiss 240s 28/28 centerlock hubs on their way. Currently thinking DT Swiss 460db rim and d-light spokes.

really odd. didnt have a problem with rear brake at all. wtf were they doing with your frame

Frankly amazed Evans would argue the toss to be honest. And I didn't think Evans got these frames via CSG so no idea whey they'd be involved. @Chak might know better tho
Dickheads in cycling world shocker tho.
Actually, scrap that. I'm not amazed. I'm amazed when giving someone money for things in Cycling isn't agony.
Bring it to Soho Bikes or Talbot and get them to do it - put money in the hands of people who aren't asshats, and get the job done properly. Win-Win!

I concur. The Supersix is my first carbon bike after only ever riding an alu Ribble Audax and a cromoly Fuji Track. I bought the thing just before winter so it's only been out 3 times so far but even after the first ride I was so surprised how much quicker it was.

@iamalex what @Howard said. Take it to your Local or someone who actually gives a shit. Expecting either to care after the bike has left their possession will only make you type out your emails with your face.
We had a Hi Mod DA Di2 come out of the box with a clean snapped chainstay, CSG couldn't care less, whilst on the other hand, Evans will try to fob anything to brand/distro to offset the cost, so afraid to say you're stuck in limbo and your requests will be left there too.
You'd be surprised how much swarf is leftover on Cannondale frames. -

fuck me the rear brake cable saga continues. this is a fucking nightmare, they should state this frame can only be used with hydro brakes
-
• #4048
Evans do get them via CSG (the CSG problem irk Evans too).

Performed Keyhole Surgery on the CAAD tonight
The internal routing is actually really good for the gear cables - its protected and run externally - the brake cables / hyro lines on the other hand.... what the fuck were they thinking!?!?!
No rub visible on my spindle, but plastic outer seems slightly flattened - the outer cable routing guide actually has strategically placed slots to allow a cable tie / flat tie of some sort pass through the shell and secure the brake cable/line against the guide and prevent rub.
this resulted in an unexpected bonus:
My rear brake is now hella more responsive......Really starting to take a shine to this bike now........
Performed excellently in the wet tonight - first time I've really felt the benefit of the disc brakes.

if you cable tie the brake cable to the BB it kinks the inner too much for smooth movement, and then even after that the exit from the chainstay is at an awful angle for the rotor... wondering whether I just route it outside from the bb... what a clusterfuck GRRRRR
anyone have problems threading the inner gear cable into the caad10??? both holes im fraying perfectly perfectly cut cables (1 year old park tool cable cutter)
