  • That colour with the orange decals is lush

    • shameless plug

  • I don't particularly fancy Brooklyns that much, but I have to say yours is spot on. Colour combination especially is great.

  • He should get a pair of these:

  • What bars are on your Gangsta? That bike makes me want to stick some massive gumwalls on my Rych

  • Pretty sure they're Thomson carbon bars

  • Yeah carbon Thompson trial bars, do it! Big tyres are the best

  • Very pricey...not worried about using carbon on a rat(ish) bike? Id love some 35+ slicks but I'd have to get 650b wheels for them to fit. Price adds up quickly, especially since I want a disc brake too

  • @timbre were you cycling with a video camera Saturday afternoon? Was admiring some wide bar Brooklyns going by

  • @Tijs thanks!

@Turkish it gets used but it's not really a rat bike tbh, do worry sometimes about locking it up cus would be quite easy to undo and run off with. Hasn't happened yet.

@JamesQGM yeah that would have been us

  • I run Easton Carbons on my rat, tbf though, they've seen better days..

  • needs a nicer chain, but far out! where did these pictures come from??

    pedalroom, banger !

  • Think this is the only thread where I'm comfortable asking for advice. haha

Just picked up an old Italian frame...the chrome Pissta is no longer.

Below is a quick mock up...normally I use flat pedals with straps.
Was going to get rid of the gold Jag but it actually matches the bike's logo.

I am buying risers and a post. Figure I'll go black on both or possibly gold risers to match the stem (but still a black post).

Suggestions? (besides throwing it off a bridge)

  • Leave the gold riser in the harbour - those two shades of gold will never match.

  • Yeah, that's a problem with anodizing. I got lucky on the gold B123/Jag combo...both of those golds are a deep gold and a perfect match when under even lighting.

I also bought a gold S65 post for my old frame and was a totally different shade...a lot lighter and almost a whitish gold.
If anyone is interested in an 27.2 S65 "Crystal Fellow" post in a lighter gold, hit me up.
New frame has a 26.X seat tube.

Probably just go black risers/post. Still not a bad frame for $150. :)
    Sorry, less talk/more slave.

  • I think that frame takes 27.0 seatpost. Check it.

  • Are the golden Jaguar and B123 NJS stamped?
I'd either go with black or silver everything. I'm not a huge fan of rainbow steel bikes

  • Only the silver ones are stamped.

  • It's time to let gold parts go, that stem clearly don't want to be there. You have current projects thread for such questions: http://www.lfgss.com/conversations/133015/

  • needs silver finishing kit and wheelset with gumwalls and a flite to finish it off

  • Have an original TI Flite from early 90's. Also picking up an older rear HED disc.

All of the lugs have factory painted gold/yellow-ish heart shaped cut outs. I was thinking of handpainting the tiny hearts on the lugs with better (non-faded) gold paint...originally I wanted to do gold B201AA risers so the stem/risers being the only gold (and it would match the frame stickers/lugs). Seat post would be black. I do think the finished product would look good...if not, I'll try something different.

I know gold on bikes look like it belongs in Dubai, but the subtle gold lugs and the darker red frame go well together. It's a similar color to older F1 Ferrari's before the Marlboro livery.

I've read almost a 1000 pages of this thread in the last week...95% of this thread is random conversations, discussing which wheel to run, posting ads, etc.. The people that read/post this thread have very similar taste as me...so that's why I post questions here.

I rarely read other forum sections...guess I'll browse around more.

    Thanks

  • Make a thread in current projects

  • Don't forget that your build has to match our taste, not yours :P
