this looked gruesome:

I was glad they didn't come back from break and show that dozens of times on repeat. (Twitter's got that covered though).
Would have loved to see Boonen do something. And Ewan in the sprint for 2nd. But pretty awesome race overall.

Great win by Stuyven especially after his slide and crash yesterday.
Boonen said he was 'a bit disappointed about his shape but the world was created in 7 days so there's still time' for him to improve before the big classics

Ethan Hayter, terroriser of many on here at Herne Hill track league, won the junior version of K-B-K.
-
• #5656
Wowzers, thanks for posting this. That's brilliant.
-
• #5657
Twitter claims he said it was "my biggest win since Palace"
-
• #5658
Woah.

Found a live report. Group of six, then...
Attaque d'Ethan Hayter (Southeast Cycling Team) à 6 km de l'arrivée
Second place @47 seconds. Damn.

Awesome. Cheers andy

Science not his strong suit then! I'm hoping he can add another big win before hanging up his wheels. Likewise Cancellara.

Broken collarbone apparently.
Someone, and the UCI ought to step up to this, really needs to get a grip on the current situation with motorbikes in amongst the race. There have been too many incidents over the past couple of seasons, and it needs to stop.

Anyone know what happened to the giant alpecin rider who sat up in the sprint today and looked very annoyed?
-
• #5664
There were like 6 bikes around the winner and the front of the chasing bunch. Mental.
-
• #5665
Hope all goes well for the rider recovery.
Do the team and rider actually get some kind of compensation in these situations or is it just tough luck?
-
• #5666
@Lotto_Soudal: .@StigBroeckx has a displaced fracture on the right collar bone, a rib fracture and a bruised hand. We wish him a good recovery!!

@ZicoWaeytens - 3h
Good feeling today, In perfect position for the sprint, but I couldn't sprint because of a mechanical problem... Thank you teammates !!
-
• #5668
Great, thanks. Yeah it looked like a rear derailleur issue
-
• #5669
Electronic problem more like
-
• #5670
Wow. That is awesome.

just heard that Lotto Soudal has contacted the police and (as the police advised them) officially charged the motorcyclist for a hit-and-run. good.
-
• #5672
I dunno about that LS one.
The moto hardly drove into him purposefully. He was all the way right and the Ls rider moves out right while looking left.
Seems like a shit luck accident from what I saw.
-
• #5673
^ this is sort of how I feel. But I guess if it's your job to be amongst the riders you should be able to stop in that situation? Predict it? I don't know...
I only saw it once though, and don't have much interest in watching it again.
-
• #5674
they didn't stop, that's the point entirely.
shit luck yes, swerving right and looking left, not very smart either, but I think the moto was going too fast and too close. if he would have passed at (the distance much advocated as safe for passing cyclists in traffic) 1.5m, the crash would not have happened even with Broeckx swerving.

I feel a lot better now about how intimidated I felt watching the As at track league. Especially when him or Fred would (apparently casually) take a lap on a points race. It sort of clicks and it's like 'oh ok, so that's what being Fast looks like'
Rouleur published a profile of him earlier this week where they said he doesn't win from solo breaks.
