I live in Seattle so we have a huge friendly bike culture....we don't have a cutthroat attitude towards selling bike stuff at ridiculous prices (as opposed to places like SF that are about selling a neglected garage sale find Cinelli for $3000 because they slapped a Mash/Cadence/Supreme sticker on it.)
Example....a neighbor sold me an original Ti Flight saddle for $25 in awesome condition....he was happy to pass it on to another enthusiasts (and not some dude that wants to flip it on ebay). I bought an 80's Ciocc road bike with a mix of DA and 105 for $500 a few years back.
The main trick is to catch craigslist ads quickly. I'm a night owl so I'll often come across ads that were created in the evening but get posted on the site after midnight.
I don't even try ebay anymore unless it's local. Too much flipping or people asking ridiculous pricing.
Where do you guys get all these tight prices?!
