  • ..like h2o just said it's hardly "evidence" that everybody and their mother is taking pictures with their iPhone now.

That's not all it shows. It shows a rapid fall in production of slr and compact cameras.

    I think that's enough said.

  • The best camera you have is the one on you.

Now stop bickering and post some straight pictures of buildings, or black & white photos of foxes please.

  • This crane was operated by a black & white fox (not pictured).

  • When scrolling the page, it looks like the fans are moving!

  • Oh, that's so satisfying...

  • Ha! Why does that happen?

  • Moiré/Aliasing.

  • I have two Nikon AF NIKKOR 35mm f/2D lenses I need to shift quickly to raise some funds, anyone interested?

They seem to go for the £150 mark on the bay, so £100?

    Looks like this:

  • ^ bought one of these last year, very happy with it, would recommend

  • Works out at c.50mm equivalent on a DX camera, no?

  • Yes, but you need a DX body with a AF motor (so no auto focus with D40, D40x, D60, D3000, D3100, D3200, D3300, D5000, D5100, D5200 or D5300).

  • Went out today for some last minute photos for the competition as my initial ideas didnt work out..

  • These are ace

  • These are incredible!

  • Thanks guys. They came out ok. I should go back there some time at later hours for less light polution. These were taken at about 8:30. I'm sure i could capture more stars at 3-4 o'clock. Maybe catch the milky way as well

  • Reminds me of this pic I took a couple of years ago. I was quite proud of it at the time but yours are much nicer. How did you light the pylon, torch painting?

Also, @photoben I'm pretty interested in one of those lenses.

EDIT: Now I look at it, it's not that similar but hey... Also, it was taken with a lens I bought from Ben :-)

  • What sort of exposure are you using here, @panic? Really nice shots.

I've done quite a few shots of stars and foregrounds lit up by bike lights, but with the stars exposed for around 30s which means using a tracking mount, which is quite a lot of faff.

  • @ewanmac i used a flash,shot two three times during the exposure.
I like your shot, with a bit of post it could have been better. Unfortunately i didnt have time to search for the bigger pylons.

@Ludd i used 15-30s exposures and played a bit with the iso.
These are not perfect, in close inspection there are some star trails. Ideally you have atracking mount or multiple exposures stacking etc. These are all a single exposure.

  • I like the light pollution!
