Depends how I feel.
Experiment and see what you can absorb. I don't like too much fructose, my tummy complained. Also depends if you're having other carb sources, as to how much fructose/malto is in them.
I tend to go a little under 2:1 though. Malto:Fructose.
If you're pushing hard, less blood will go to your stomach and you'll struggle to digest a strong ratio or a larger carb:water ratio.
Experiment.
