Yeah, I'm sure the big camera manufacturers are just sitting on their hands wondering how the phone people do it. Especially given that most of the sensors for cameras and phones are made by Sony - am sure the two business units never talk to each other, or technological advances in wafers affect both of them - that'd never happen.
More sophistiated sensor? It's a fraction of the GR sensor, and smears detail like a motherfucker. The photo I posted for the last challenge I couldn't have taken with an iPhone for shit. Yes, the cameras in phones are getting better, and yes, a photo taken on a phone is just as valid. But this whole 'small cameras are dead' thing I don't buy. Sure, for some people a phone is all they need. But there's still a difference.
