(I know cable disks aren't as good as hydro but) at the moment are there any good cable disc brakes that work with Shimano 6800 levers. Never thought about it before so sorry for the basic question
Lots of cable options - I had good success with 5700 levers and an Avid BB5.
You could try
TRP Spyre / HyRd Shimano CX77 Avid BB7
The Juintechs we have on a cross bike are very good in terms of feel but I don't think they are spec'd for anything other than cross.
HY/RD felt great with the newer 11 speed shifters (5800, 6800, etc.).
I vaguely remember BB7 felt great too with such a light touch (and compressionless, obviously).
Spyres also great, but felt a little stiffer due to the two springs on the calipers.
Paul has cable disc calipers too - a pimped up version of BB7 but with shimano pads.
They are not cheap but have a friend who is running a set, he said it's great.
I would say go for HY/RD, best of both worlds.
