  • RS spyder?

  • You can have that as a 550 or a 718, not a 356.

  • Actually the proper name for them is 356 2000 GS. ;)

  • Also

    Hi.

  • I think I just saw a pantera in Loughborough junction. I think. That, or a Lamborghini.

  • Schoolboy error. Oversills are always a cover up!!!

  • Speaking of which, saw this sweet chassis for a Pantera build on IG the other day:

  • This. Do not buy oversills.
I have a great mechanic who is mobile and can do the sills for you properly.

  • Actually the proper name for them is 356 2000 GS.

Well... sort of, but... no... You could have a 2000 GS Carrera, or a 2000 GT Carrera. The GT was the faster one with the hopped-up motor and lightweight bits.

Also, the bonnet crest on that orange car is incorrect. Early cars had orange bars, later had red.

    I'm here all day.

  • Taking this as an invitation to appreciate Seinfelds 550 Spyder

  • Wasn't the Boxster based on that?

  • Nah. The Boxster is more like the 914: mid engined poor man's Porsche with front and back boots and a questionable aesthetic.

    I love 914s.

  • I love 914's too.

    The Boxster isn't a really poor man's Porsche, it's a wealthier man's MX5.

Now the Cayman; that's a Tesco Value 911.

  • Porsche themselves said the 550 was the inspiration but I agree it looks more like the 914 after a few too many baked potatoes with beans, melted cheese and butter

  • I'd quite happily take a cayman GT4, in white. Think I like all the alternate porkies better than a 911 derivative ie: 928, yes pls. 968 CS, yup, 944 turbo, 914 etc etc.

  • Saw a nice G reg Carerra 4 on the way home and the owner was giving it beans. I like those 90s Porsches.

  • The 550 and 356 are really the only kits I'd like to build.

  • My Boxster is a 550 Anniversary. Definitely inspired by the 500 then. The adverts were all about it. And it didn't have a VW engine.
Also apart from the bigger motor and pointless rear seats the 911 is an uglier and worse car than the Boxster. The Cayman is also better. Because on both the motor is in the proper place and not where Hans Ledwinka put it when Porsche decided to steal his design for the KDF-Wagen.
Mind you, all Porsches are overrated boring crap.

  • Except maybe a 944 Turbo.

  • the 911 is an uglier and worse car than the Boxster.

Aren't you the bloke who owned a Rover SD1?

  • So I got these (minilite 17x7") for the Forester when spring comes around. Now looking for recommendations of a sporty tyre that comes in 215/55/17?

Also picked up a 21mm rear ARB, drop links and bushings/brackets for about £80 all in. Should rear change the way the car handles. (17mm rear ARB is standard.)

  • I owned two of them.
    The second one was lovely.

  • You're the only person who's ever described an SD1 as lovely.
