The surly troll forks has canti mounts as well as disc, so has a backup if there is issues with the front, and not super worried about rear braking being sub-par.
I should really go for troll frame to have canti mounts front and back but going for inbred first as a cheap way to see if i like riding this type of bike.

If you had difficulty getting 700c inner tubes, why would you go for disc brakes over cantilever/V brakes?
