Yeah, the utilitarian look is a pretty strong statement that it is intended as a tool and not a piece of consumer electronics but it does look like it was designed by engineers, which can go either way.
The D-pad looks a little fiddly and I'm not really a fan of horizontal control wheels from an ergonomic point of view but I'm just so accustomed to Canon's vertically orientated wheels so Nikon users will probably find it more familiar. To be fair, they've met half-way with the front scroll wheel which is more diagonal.
Probably the ugliest camera ever but it doesn't matter because it sounds great. The pixel shift thing (sensor moves to record rgb values for each pixel) and gps based star tracking are very niche but cool features. And it's ridiculiusly weather sealed.
