So on the D3 you chad the shutter button but if you half pressed it, it would focus first.
You also had the af button on the back too that you could focus with, so you could pick either one to focus.

The D750 doesn't have that but it has a ae-l button on the back and you can change it to autofocus button in the menus, but when you do that it takes the shutter release button just becomes that and you can use it to autofocus at all like pressing it half in.

Its fuckin stupid but apparently loads of folk have come up on this problem, i;d have though Nikon would have released a firmware update that fixes it.... But no
