    IMO currently everyone in bike sales is saying that if you want advantage of disc brakes you have to pay extra, that shouldn't be the case once its spread widely. I am waiting for that.

    Kind of what iPhone did with innovation and you had to cough up £300+ for a phone for few years (now even more) but now you can get all that plus more for less than half price.

    More or less, in this case, aftermarket brakes actually do have a significant improvement over the big brand offering, you won't get the exact same sharp bite like you would a rim calipers brakes, but the advantage of the sheer power outweigh the need for those sharp modulation*.

    *actually you can get it, but you need to get the right mix of components to get that feel.
