  • Bendy for compliance

  • bendy bendy, ooh such a good time.

  • Such bend
    Many flex
    Shit size
    Have to buy Cannondale post
    wow

  • smoother ride apparently. just means your stuck with cannondale or fsa seatposts. they've done the same on the synapse. cannondale love their weird standards

  • Have to buy Cannondale post

Don't worry, Thomson come in that sizes.

  • Any decent carbon ones?

  • Doubt it'll make that much difference after getting debunked by our very own @mdcc_tester

  • Also picked up an Evans CAAD10 Disc in a 58 for my first dabble in road disc brakes and CAAD club membership. SRAM Red/Force transplant with TRP Spyres or Juin R1. Also my first internally routed frame... Did you run the gear cables with full length outers? Any other top tips/quirks having already assembled one?

  • The rear brake cable is full length outer front to rear, which is ridiculous, as is the fact it runs inside the bottom bracket shell, which isn't massive, but all the gear cables are only part outer with cable stops where you'd usually expect them.

Took mine out for a spin last night for the first time, and it's surprisingly comfy.

Gonna slam the shit out of the stem and see how my back likes it #yolo

  • more comfort, less weight, innit?

  • Perhaps an Ibuprofen chaser after the stem slammage! That build looks great. I'll be keeping the 15mm cone spacer for a similar fit to my current setup. For now.

Thanks for the cabling tips, can get those ordered now. If there's clearance in the BB for cables+Hollowgram axle hopefully there's enough for my Rotor 3D+ too.

Gold KMC chain may feature. Wheel discussions continue.

  • Would very much like to be involved with wheel discussion - I'm at a bit of a loss...

  • welcome to the club @iamalex I also had my 58cm caad10 disc delivered last week.. I am only now missing an 11 speed cassette, with all the other parts in the post...

    should be;
    TRP HY/RD disc brakes
    ultegra 6800 shifters + derailleurs
    hollowgram SIs + spiderring
superstar disc wheels (semi aero? lol)
    Zipp SL-70 bars
kalloy 130mm stem from @spotter (for now)
    low stack cannondale headset cover
fizik antares + replica canyon bendy post from my old build

  • Should be a great build swedeee - I'm playing catch-up with the parts ordering.

Did they face the disc mounts on your forks, mine are painted over? I thought this might be normal, and I screw through the paint to mount calipers, but now leaning towards it was a mistake on their part.

  • mine seem faced in that picture

  • Wheels, so many options...

My requirements - a 4 season set to get me in and out London to the Kent hills, where I like a good climb. I'm 64kg / 6ft. They'll be my only wheels.

    At the top end of the budget I'm currently thinking handbuilts;
    DT Swiss 350 centerlock + Brass nipples + 28/28 Sapim Race + Pacenti SL25
Solid build, reasonable rotating weight, easy to look after hubs. I think.
Could get rebuilt with CX Rays in the future if feeling flush.

Hunt x Mason look good value though. As do the Kinesis Race Light Disc.

  • I'm 64kg / 6ft.

    GTFO

Or light-bicycle u-shaped or Ryde Pulse (if you like to climb that is)

  • Balls - I'll call Evans then

  • I'll look them up, not familiar with those. Thanks

  • 64kg 6ft

    Also GTFFRON

Can I donate some of my weight your way? At 5 10 and 78kg you make me feel obese

  • Kinesis race light disc were an option I seriously considered, but the reviews are very few and far between.

A lot say they've had to completely rebuild cos he spokes are shite and the quality also shite

A lot say absolutely bulletproof and a veritable bargain for the £/kg ratio

  • I remember trying to route a cable with the Synapse and was pretty difficult to make the rear brake feel smooth.

Did you use compressionless with this? if so, how was the process?

  • Mate, I lost my temper and gave up with it - took it to the guys at SBC.

Disc brakes are new to me, I like my rim brakes very hard and responsive - as close the the rim as possible, no pull in the levers.
I couldn't get the discs anywhere near without the levers touching the bars, was really fucking pissing me off. SBC dialled the reach on my levers and they're still only just off the bars at full pull.
A bit disappointed by the frame, and disc brakes by that standard, I was hoping for super responsive super firm feel and very sure footed braking like I get from my Da9000 rim brakes.

    Nope.

    Nowhere close.

    Any hints/tips?

  • Hmm, question mark against those then. £/kg is very good!

Was also looking at DT Swiss 460 db or Archetype rims built around Novatec 771/772 hubs.
