Stuck seatpost - convert it to an ISP?

  • I've got a old steel tourer with a very stuck seatpost. I've had success dissolving alloy seatposts out with caustic soda in the past but I'd rather not do it this time. The seatpost isn't anything fancy or fluted. What do you guys reckon to just sawing the top of the seatpost off and using one of these clamps designed for integrated seatposts on the bit left behind? Looks like I should be able to get enough adjustment out of one since the seatpost is currently only a couple of cm too low

  • even if you get the diameters right it will look fugly, if there is still a piece of it sticking out, you can try cutting at it lengthwise and pulling it out with a pair of big grip pliers.

  • heres two
    examples of what i tried

  • If you're willing to spend the cash (£60 plus shipping) then this guy comes highly recommended...
