Was just going to put down an underlay over the floorboards and then pin it down.

What's the thickness of the OSB?

9mm-24mm afaik

About six years ago two mates and I rented a warehouse in Bow and built a bunch of bedrooms and bathroom almost exclusively out of OSB. Yacht varnish on the floors/shower. It was functional but I found it a bit too imposing, especially if you're thinking large amounts.

Well the new gaff has ivy growing inside which I think I'll encourage right across the lounge.

TBH if I don't like it, I can just take it down/pull it up and do something else.

I wouldn't lay OSB in massive sheets.

I'd get it cut into strips and either half lap it or go with a parquet effect.

I wouldn't use it at all.

I'd use concrete parquet.

It often comes in squares with a tongue and groove for flooring.

Anyone know of any woodwork courses pref around East London?
Once my current (design) contract finishes I fancy getting stuck into some house stuff for a month or so and feel a good understanding of the basics would be advantageous rather than the usual google/youtube learnings.
I'm expecting @Airhead to know the answer here to be honest.

Need some advice, looking to regrout a bathroom floor. The old grout was everbuild and seem to have comeout in an area. The gaps between the tiles are quite big some areas are arounf 15mm or more. Replaced it all with some mapei stuff but that cracked and came out quite quickly. Was told by mapei I had not mixed the grout correctly as It should have been mechanically mixed.

So any ideas if there is a grout that can cope with that big a gap.

Mrs Bash did one at London Met in Aldgate, but I just heard they're shutting down all their practical courses which sucks massive hairy balls. If they're still going, she reckoned it would be best to go for the intermediate course instead of the beginners - the inter course had a lot more focus on powertools and machines.

@lynx - wouldn't pay any attention to Mapei saying it needed to be mixed mechanically. I have always mixed by hand with no issues.

I've not used BAL myself and I have never had a problem with Mapei - it may have just been the mix ratio that caused it to dry to quickly or something. Anyway, BAL gets rated by a lot of trade folk so I'd give that a whirl. Good luck mate

I know of a decent training centre in Croydon. They are right outside Waddon overground station which is easily reached from Clapham Junction so commuting is easy enough. Builder Training Centre. Nice atmosphere and experienced staff, I thought the cost of the course I went on was reasonable given the amount of questions I asked!

The issue is that I already have the problem with the mapei grout cracking and coming out, Mapei gave the reason that it happened as the grout was not mechanically mixed.

Proper long term fix is to take floor up, stabilise, tub, sub-layer, tile and grout

Well that is not going to happen any time soon. Also wasn't a major problem before, the old grout was discoloured and wanted the grout to match the grouting on the bath panel.

Some beige/sandstone colour too
