Any idea on the max tyre size? Would be good to go up to 2.3"...considering this as a TDR bike option. I should just get a Fargo really...

Edit: looked at the link...2.1 looks like a max.

New commuting tractor was heavily influenced by this thread. Also plan on some touring with ladyfriend and this would be perfect for that - can carry everything and would help make our speeds more complimentary. May try it out on some gravel and bridleways over the summer...

26" mtb/tourers with all the mounts. Apart from the Surly Troll, what else should i be looking at?

Im looking similar but considering using old steel mtb frame and just getting the surly forks for all the mounts up front

Exactly what I did. Most expensive stuff I spent on the whole things was some decent bikepacking gear.

'retro mtb frame' on ebay or stalk retrobike for something rad or RaD

You don't even need front mounts these days

Really want to get a Kona Explosif as well.

Vassago Fisticuff on 40mm Clements. Clearance for a good bit more tire as well.

I just bought an old Trek 970 on ebay, absolute bargain, lugs as well - got loads of mounts just no extra on the forks - as @Tallboy says you can solve that problem quite easily

I've had lots of explosif's, they rule.

My favourite is the 98' because 853.

I think the cheaper option is On One Inbred with Surly Troll forks. There's a thread on here somewhere with a build like that.

Now that's a true Monsteur! Rolling the fat cruise. Is that a light bracket at the front?

ha! yeah bloody tiny head tubes. that light mount if a bit of copper pipe i've bolted on.

I love riding it. so much fun!
